Peran Pustakawan Layanan Referensi dalam Memenuhi Kebutuhan Informasi Pemustaka di Dinas Perpustakaan dan Arsip Provinsi Sumatera Utara

Abstract

In the reference service of the Library and Archives Service of North Sumatra Province, activities carried out by reference service librarians including helping users find information according to their needs, identifying information needs, providing guidance to users, providing guidance on maintaining reference service collections, and arranging or shelving collections regularly. The purpose of writing this Final Project is to find out the role of reference service librarians in meeting the information needs of visitors at the Library and Archives Service of North Sumatra Province. The data collection methods used are literature review, observation, interview, and documentation. The results of this writing explain that the reference service of the North Sumatra Provincial Library and Archives Office plays an important role in facilitating access to available information sources. In providing services, reference service librarians offer direct search guidance to users. Identification of users' needs is done through questions asked by the users to understand their information needs. Reference service librarians at the North Sumatra Provincial Library and Archives Office have helped fulfill users' information needs well.
