This paper describes the conflict of the main characters in a movie A Silent Voice and explains why and how the conflict happened. The purpose of this study is to find out the types of conflicts that arise in the characters of the movie. This paper using qualitative method. Internal conflicts and External conflicts. This paper focuses on the main character: Ishida Shoya. Ishida's actions towards his deaf classmate, Nishimiya Shoko, lead to her eventual transfer and trigger a spiral of guilt and self-isolation for Ishida. Ishida battles with deep-seated feelings of remorse and self-loathing, symbolized by the X marks he visualizes over people's faces, representing his belief that he is unworthy of human connection and forgiveness. The conclusion of this discussion is that Ishida's conflict as a profound exploration of guilt, redemption, and the transformative power of genuine remorse and forgiveness. Through Ishida's journey, the film underscores the importance of empathy and understanding in healing past wounds, both for oneself and others, offering a powerful narrative of personal growth amidst societal expectations and personal redemption.
