Microgreens are young plants that have higher nutritional value. that are higher than their mature counterparts. Most microgreens contain much higher bioactive compounds such as ascorbic acid, phylloquinone, tocopherols, carotenoids, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. This study aims to determine the use of various types of planting media on the growth of broccoli microgreen plants. This research was conducted from October 8 to November 1, 2023 at Rumah Pekarangan, Perumahan Tasbih, Medan and chlorophyll, protein, flavonoid analysis tests at the Biotechnology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra, Medan. This study used a non-factorial group randomized design with the composition of planting media with three levels of treatment, namely control, top soil + 15% of rice husk charcoal, top soil + 30% rice husk charcoal with nine replications. Parameters measured were plant height, plant wet weight, protein compound content, flavonoid content, and chlorophyll content. The results showed that there was a significant effect of using various types of planting media on the growth, wet weight, protein content, flavonoids, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b and total chlorophyll of broccoli microgreen plants. Chlorophyll content and protein content were highest with top soil + 15% rice husk charcoal (P2), for the highest flavonoid content obtained with top soil + 30% rice husk charcoal.en_US
