    Abstract
Indonesian History education is often perceived as less engaging and difficult to memorize by students, necessitating a new approach to increase their interest and understanding. This research develops history learning media based on Role Playing Game (RPG) that allows students to role-play and undertake missions based on portrayed heroic figures, interacting with other historical figures involved in the events presented in the game. Finite State Machine (FSM) and Pathfinding A Star are applied as artificial intelligence to control character behavior and movement, enabling interactions with player and adherence to the historical storyline presented. The assessment of media quality yields highly suitable scores, with content suitability at 82.5%, presentation suitability at 87.5%, language suitability at 96.87%, and contextual assessment at 87.5%. Additionally, the research shows an improvement in student understanding from an average Pre-Test score of 70.97 to 85.47 in the Post-Test. User experience questionnaire analysis, measuring increased interest, is divided into four aspects: Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction, scoring 89.17%, 90.14%, 85.69%, and 90.83%, respectively.
