Pengaruh Penambahan Nanogel Chitosan dengan Variasi Konsentrasi pada Resin Akrilik Swapolimerisasi Gigi Tiruan Cekat Sementara dan Lama Pemakaian terhadap Kekuatan Fleksural dan Stabilitas Warna
Effects of Adding Various Concentrations of Chitosan Nanogel to A Provisional Fixed Denture Made of Self-Cure Acrylic Resin and Wearing Time on Colour Stability and Flexural Strength
Abstract
A fixed denture is a denture that repairs a damaged crown or replaces one or more
missing teeth with artificial material and is fitted to the patient permanently and cannot
be opened by the patient. Treatment using a fixed denture takes 8-10 days. The same
thing for implant installation is waiting for osseointegration time for 3-6 months. This
study aims to determine the effect of the addition of chitosan nanogels 0.5%, 1%, and
1.5% to the swapolymerized acrylic resin of temporary fixed dentures on flexural
strength and color stability based on 3 and 6 months of use. This type of research is an
experimental laboratory with a post-test only control group design. The number of
samples of each group was 5 samples. The samples were divided into control group,
2000 cycle thermocycling group and 5000 cycle thermocycling group. Flexural
strength testing was carried out using the three-point bending method with a universal
testing machine. Meanwhile, color stability testing was carried out using a
spectrophotometer. Data were analyzed using ANOVA test, LSD test, and t-test. The
results showed that there was a significant effect of the addition of chitosan nanogel
0.5%, 1%, and 1.5% to the acrylic resin swapolymerized temporary denture on flexural
strength based on the length of use of 3 months with p=0.001 (p<0.05) and 6 months
with p=0.001 (p<0.05). In the test group, the effect of the length of use of 3 and 6
months on the addition of chitosan nanogels 0.5%, 1%, and 1.5% to the acrylic resin
swapolymerized temporary fixed denture showed an effect on flexural strength. This
study also shows that there is a significant effect of the addition of chitosan nanogel
0.5%, 1%, and 1.5% in acrylic resin swapolymerized temporary denture on the
strength of color stability based on the length of use of 3 months with p = 0.001 (p <
0.05) and 6 months with p = 0.001 (p < 0.05). While in the test group for the duration
of use of 3 and 6 months in the addition of chitosan nanogels 0.5%, 1%, and 1.5% in
acrylic resin swap polymerized temporary fixed denture on the strength of color
stability. It can be concluded that the addition of chitosan nanogel to swapolymerized
acrylic resin can increase flexural strength and color stability. The improvement in
flexural strength and color stability in swapolymerized acrylic resin with the addition
of 1.5% chitosan nanogel was better than swapolymerized acrylic resin with the
addition of 1% chitosan nanogel, but the resulting values were not significant. This
suggests that swapolymerized acrylic resin with the addition of 1% chitosan nanogel
can be used as a temporary restoration in some cases of fixed dentures that require a
long time before a definitive fixed denture is fitted, including crown lengthening and
implant denture cases.
