    Factors Influencing Mental-Emotional Disturbances Among Pediatric Populations with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at Adam Malik Hospital Medan

    Abstract
    Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) is a prevalent childhood cancer that often requires intensive chemotherapy, which subsequently may impact both mental and emotional equity of affected children. This study aims to determine what factors influence on the mental-emotional disturbances in children with ALL. This observational study employed a cross-sectional design to assess the mental-emotional disturbances in children undergoing chemotherapy for ALL at Haji Adam Malik General Hospital, Medan, Indonesia. We have found 70 cases of ALL in children, with 61,4% and 65,7% population were male and ranges between 5-10 years old. The average age of the fathers were 39 years old, the mothers were 37 years old, standard risk were 60% of the population with consolidation phase where the highest at 45,7%. In this study we found emotional mental disorder screened using PSC 17, with internalization, attention, and externalization disorder were 65,7%, for interlization at 67,1%, attention at 55,7% and externalization at 47,1%. The results found significant internalization, attention, and externalization disorder or total, to the risk (p<0,05). For emotional mental disorder subscaled attention and total emotional mental disorder, father and mother’s age, and disease severity affected emotional mental disorder at ALL children, and internalization and externalization symptoms affected more from disease severity and at externalization affected from mother’s job
