Hubungan Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT) dengan Kadar Asam Urat pada Lansia di Desa Klumpang Kampung Kecamatan Hamparan Perak

Abstract

Uric acid is a residual ingredient from purine metabolism. The high level of uric acid in blood is the people's main health problem today. One of the risk factors of uric acid is high IMT (Body Mass Index). The elderly are vulnerable to be attacked by uric acid disease due to their old age. The objective of the research is to find out whether there is correlation between IMT and uric acid content in the elderly at Klumpang Kampung Village, Hamparan Perak Sub-district. The research uses descriptive correlation method with cross-sectional design. The samples are 74 elderly people, taken by using proportional random sampling technique. The data are analyzed by using Pearson correlation test at p = 0.002 (<0.05) and correlation coefficient (r) 0.358. There is the correlation between IMT and uric acid content in the elderly at Klumpang Kampung village, Hamparan Perak Sub-district with positive (+) and significant level which indicates that the higher the IMT is, the higher the uric acid content. It is recommended that the next researchers handle other factors which can influence the correlation between IMT and uric acid content.
