    Abstract
Research was conducted on the production of activated carbon-based filters from palm kernel shells, palm trunks and clay as polluted water using physical activation. Palm trunks and shells were carbonised at 300°C for 1 hour and then physically activated with temperature variations of 400°C, 500°C and 600°C for 1 hour. The effective filtration value of manganese metal (Mn) in an area of 5.5 cm x 5.5 cm was 0.00267 mg/L with a percentage of 0.03%, and the effective filtration value of lead metal (Cu) in an area of 5.5 cm x 5.5 cm was 0.0023 mg/L with a percentage of 0.03%. For the effective filtration value of manganese metal (Mn) in an area of 2.5 cm in diameter was obtained 0.00639 mg/L with a percentage of 0.09% and effective filtration of lead metal (Cu) in an area of 5.5 cm x 5.5 cm was obtained 0.00304 mg/L with a percentage of 0.05%. The results of the morphology of the sample surface by SEM show that the M600 sample has a smooth surface and the pores in the sample are clearly visible, while the X400 sample has a lot of impurities and the sample surface is not smooth. The results of elemental analysis by EDX show that the M600 sample contains carbon (C) 73.6%, oxygen (O) 19.9% and silica (Si) 2.0%, while the X400 sample contains carbon (C) 62.3%, oxygen (O) 28.65% and silica (Si) 4.3%.
