Abstract
Phubbing is a phenomenon in communication when someone ignore other people in their company by concentrating on their phone. Phubbing arises because of the high level of phone use and problematic internet use, one of which is due to playing games. Everyone has their own motivation that encourages them to spend a long time playing game. This study aims to determine the role of player motivation on phubbing in generation Z emerging adulthood who play the online game Sky: Children of the light. This study involved 118 emerging adulthood people who played Sky: Children of The Light. The method in this study is a correlational quantitative method using multiple regression analysis techniques. Based on the results, it is known that player motivation together has a significant positive role on phubbing behavior with a role contribution of 15.4%. However, when looking at the role of each dimension, it is known that the achievement has a negative and insignificant role in phubbing behavior. Meanwhile, the social and immersion each have a significant positive role on phubbing.
