    Abstract
Background : Hypertension is a dangerous degenerative disease with systolic blood pressure >140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure >90 mmHg. Hypertension is one of the highest factors causing ischemic stroke. Hypertension will have an impact on blood vessels in the form of calcification which will appear on CT examination of the head. This calcification will have an impact on blood vessel flow which will be a factor in the onset of ischemic stroke. Objective : This study analyzes the relationship between hypertension and intracranial vascular artery calcification on head CT-Scan examination of ischemic stroke patients. Research Methods : This analytic study used a cross-sectional design using a minimum research sample of 95 patients diagnosed with ischemic stroke. The research sample has been examined by CT-Scan of the head at the Radiology Installation. Adam Malik Hospital Medan. Sample collection was based on the presence or absence of hypertension and the presence or absence of intracranial vascular calcification on CT scan. Analyzing the relationship of intracranial vascular calcification with hypertension, age and gender. Results : The results of the analysis showed an association between calcification with hypertension (p = 0.0001) and age (p = 0.001) but no association with gender (p = 0.187). Conclusion : There is an association between intracranial vascular calcification with hypertension and age in ischemic stroke patients.
