    Abstract
Propolis contains of secondary metabolite compounds such as flavonoids, tannins and saponins that act as anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiviral, antibacterial and play a role of accelerating the wound healing process. The burn wound healing process consists of an inflammatory phase, a proliferation phase and a maturation phase. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of bee propolis ointment on the process of the burn wound healing by looking at its skin histology images of the mice (Mus musculus L.) on 14th days. This study was conducted using 25 male mice divided into 5 treatment groups and 5 replicates consisting of control (-) without treatment; positive control (+) given povidone iodine and administration of bee propolis ointment with concentrations (50, 75 and 100%) for 14 days. Preparation of bee propolis ointment (Trigona spp.) was prepared by using maceration method with vaseline solvent. Burns were applied by using a metal rod with a wound area of 150 mm2 and then the histology of skin tissue was examined. The results showed that bee propolis ointment has the potential to help the burn wound healing process by increasing the rate of the reepithelialization, the stimulating collagen formation so as to accelerate the tissue repair and the new tissue formation. Administration of bee propolis ointment has not decreased the number of fibroblast cells within 14 days, so the proliferation process is still ongoing and propolis ointment has also not decreased the number of the lymphocyte cells within 14 days, so the inflammatory process is still ongoing.
