Differences in Self-Determination of Public and Private Junior High School Teachers in Bagan Sinembah
Abstract
This study aims to determine the differences in self-determination of public and private junior high school teachers in Bagan Sinembah, based on the results of interviews public junior high school teachers have irregular working hours compared to private junior high schools. Self determination is a motivation from within the individual to the individual's ability to encourage himself to make choices based on his will, intention, and desire to make choices according to the individual's needs. In addition, the teaching methods applied by private junior high school teachers are different from public junior high school teachers. In this study, the number of respondents used was 57 respondents with a total population of 209 junior high school teachers in Bagan Sinembah. This research uses convenience sampling technique with comparative quantitative method. The instrument used, namely the Indonesian version of the Self Determination Scale adapted by Muttaqin (2023). The research data were tested by Independent Sample t-test. The results obtained a value of 0.001 with a significance level (p) <0.05. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the self-determination of public and private junior high school teachers in Bagan Sinembah
