This study is a descriptive and phenomenological research aimed at identifying the factors that influence patriotism among the poor in the city of Medan, focusing on those with high levels of patriotism. The research involved 100 poor individuals as participants and one individual as a subject for the interview. Sampling was conducted using a non probability technique with accidental sampling and extreme sampling for the interview. The data obtained in this study were processed using descriptive analysis and thematic analysis. The measurement tools included a questionnaire and a patriotism scale based on the theory proposed by Blank & Schmidt (2003). The results showed that the poor in Medan tend to have a high level of patriotism overall. The testing results indicated that patriotism among the poor in Medan falls into the high category. The study revealed that the subject's patriotism is influenced by 2 out of 3 factors: age influence and political orientation factors, while the factor that had little or no influence was the role of education. Another influencing factor found was the family factor.en_US
