dc.description.abstractThis study aims to determine the description of adolescent distraction to social media in Medan City. Teenagers who become respondents are aged 12-21 years. This research method is a quantitative method with descriptive research type. The measuring instrument used is a measuring instrument developed based on the Distraction-conflict theory formulated by Baron (1986). The measuring instrument used is a 5-point Likert scale totaling 22 items with a reliability of 0.929. Data analysis in this study used descriptive data analysis by explaining the data obtained through the questionnaire. Based on the research conducted, the results show that in general the level of distraction in adolescents in Medan City is predominantly in the moderate category of 41.5% and in the high category of 24.1% of the total sample. This means that social media acts as a significant source of distraction in the daily lives of Medan City teenagers.en_US
