    Abstract
Blind children face significant challenges in achieving independence and optimal quality of life. They experience difficulties in carrying out daily activities, interacting socially, and accessing proper education. The functional curriculum introduced by the Perkins School for the Blind in the United States is a special learning system designed for children with disabilities. Implementation is a process of implementing a program that has been planned and has a goal that will have an impact on individuals, groups and communities. A program can only be implemented if a formula has been established that is designed systematically and has ways of implementing the program. The aim of this research is to find out the extent of the implementation of functional learning programs for children with visual impairments at the Dwi Tuna Harapan Baru Education Foundation, Medan City. .Data collection techniques are carried out by conducting observations, interviews and documentation. In obtaining conclusions, data obtained in the field was processed by analyzing qualitatively with a descriptive approach. Research results show that the implementation of this curriculum has brought positive changes to children. Children become more independent in carrying out daily activities and more confident in facing various existing challenges. The functional learning program is effective in increasing the independence of blind children. Regular evaluation and monitoring needs to be carried out to ensure the success of the program.
