Abstract

This research focuses on discussing local political dynamics in the election of regents and deputy regents in the 2024 regional elections in Langkat Regency. This research is motivated by the local political dynamics that will influence the implementation of the 2024 regional elections in Langkat. This research aims to find out the dynamics of local politics ahead of the 2024 regional elections in Langkat. The research method used is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data was obtained from primary data sources through interviews and secondary data sources through various related literature reviews. The results of the research show that the local political dynamics leading up to the 2024 Pilkada in Langkat Regency have two pairs of candidates, each candidate making various efforts to win the regional head election. This research discusses the period before candidate registration, the period during candidate registration, the supporting party coalition, issues and conflicts, and the political culture of Langkat society. All these processes make the local political dynamics in the election of Regent and Deputy Regent in Langkat Regency very diverse and dynamic.
