    Analysis of Knowledge and Sanitation Higiene Actions of Contact Lens Users Among Faculty of Public Health Students of Universitas Sumatera Utara in 2024

    Abstract
    The use of contact lenses among students is increasing along with the need for aesthetics and vision correction. Using contact lenses that are not in accordance with the procedure will have a negative impact on the eyes, such as irritation and even blindness. The aim of this research is to analyze knowledge and sanitary hygiene actions regarding the use of contact lenses used by female students at the Faculty of Public Health Universitas Sumatera Utara. This type of research is a descriptive survey. The sampling technique used in this research was a purposive sampling technique with a sample size of 85 people. The largest proportion of female students in the knowledge category regarding contact lens use was in the moderate category with 31 (36.5%) female students. The largest proportion of female students in the knowledge category regarding contact lens use was in the poor category with 61 (60.0%) female students. The largest proportion of hygienic sanitation measures in the good category was 46 (54.1%) female students. The research results showed that of the 34 female students with good knowledge, 20 (23.5%) carried out sanitation hygiene measures well and 14 (16.4%) carried out sanitation hygiene measures poorly. Of the 51 female students who had poor knowledge, 26 (30.5%) carried out good hygiene and sanitation measures and 25 (29.4%) carried out poor measures. Even though most female students have fairly good knowledge, contact lens care still needs to be improved. The importance of education about more intensive lens care regarding the importance of maintaining cleanliness when using contact lenses to prevent the risk of eye infections.
