    Abstract
Dentists work with a static and rigid position to perform procedures on patients that require careful examination of dental issues. This necessitates dentists to bend and contort their bodies to precisely assess a patient's teeth. The working posture of dentists is a significant risk factor, so it's important for dentists to pay attention to ergonomic principles while working. This research aims to determine the influence of work posture on the incidence of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) among dentists in Medan City. This study uses a quantitative cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used is Simple Random Sampling and a sample of 53 dentists from the Medan city health center was obtained. The variables studied are working posture and the occurrence of MSDs. Data collection is done using the nordic body map (NBM) and rapid entire body assessment (REBA) questionnaires. Data processing is carried out using univariate and bivariate analysis using simple linear regression tests. The research results show that 26 dentists (49.1%) are aged 48 years, and 27 dentists (50.9%) are aged <48 years. Regarding work experience, 49 dentists (92.5%) have a 5-year work experience, while 4 dentists (7.5%) have a work experience of <5 years. There are 46 female dentists (86.8%) and 7 male dentists (13.2%). The statistical test results indicate that there is an influence of working posture on the occurrence of musculoskeletal disorders among dentists in the city of Medan with a value (sig. = 0.000) <0.05. It is recommended to allocate time for muscle stretching and understand dental ergonomics to regulate their body posture while working and to pay attention to dental equipment and perform regular maintenance to ensure that a dentist's work is not disturbed and to increase their comfort when treating patients.
