    Abstract
Rabies is a tropical disease endemic in several regions of Indonesia. It is caused by a neurotropic virus from the Rhabdoviridae family, Lyssavirus genus, transmitted through dog, cat, and monkey bites, with a Case Fatality Rate (CFR) of 100%. Ninety-five percent of rabies cases occur in Asia and Africa. In Indonesia, the proportion of rabies is 9 per 100,000 population, while in North Sumatra, it is 10 per 10,000 population. In the Tuntungan Health Center working area, the proportion of rabies is 3 per 1,000 population. This research aims to determine the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and rabies prevention in the Medan Tuntungan Health Center work area in 2024. The research method employs a cross-sectional design with the chi-square statistical test. Data collection technique utilized purposive sampling, with 134 respondents selected based on the criteria of owning dogs in the Tuntungan Public Health Center working area. The results of the research, obtained from questionnaire interviews, were analyzed univariately and bivariately. Analysis and testing of bivariate data reveal a significant relationship between knowledge (p<0.050) and attitudes (p<0.050) with rabies prevention in the Medan Tuntungan Community Health Center work area in 2024. Therefore, it is crucial for the Medan Tuntungan Community Health Center to conduct outreach programs regarding rabies in the community. These efforts aim to enhance knowledge and attitudes about preventing rabies in the area.
