Wireless body area network (WBAN) is is the wireless network device that
can be used by human body, where wireless communication for wearable
technology was regulated by the IEEE 802.15.6. One of the communication devices
is wearable antenna. a part of transmitter and receiver in wireless communication
for wearable technology, wearable antennas should be designed to be comfortable,
light, maintenance free, and cheap to implement. Beside that, wearable antennas
must be following safety standards for the human body to absorb the radiation. In
this research, the wearable antenna implemented using a microstrip patch antenna
in 2.4 GHz, which the frequency is a band application of industrial, scientific, and
medical frequency (ISM Frequency). The wearable microstrip patch antenna
fabricated using copper fabric with a thickness of 0.06 mm which composed of pure
copper and polyester materials, and a felt fabric substrate with dielectric constant
of 2.4. The prototype of wearable antenna designed the patch antenna size of 39
mm. Following the measurements using a vector network analyzer (VNA), the
wearable antenna has resonance in return loss -12.95 dB and VSWR of 1.79 in 2.43
GHz frequency. Wearable microstrip patch antenna also measured to human body
towards skin surface and clothing surface and the measured result showed wearable
antenna meets the requirement of resonance in return loss < -10 dB.
