| dc.description.abstract | Peatlands in Indonesia are estimated at 26 million ha. These peatlands are spread across Sumatra on an area of 8.9 million ha. Humbang Hasundutan is one of the areas that spread peatlands in North Sumatra with an estimated area of around 1,042 hectares spread in Lintong Nihuta District, Pollung District and Dolok Sanggul District. Peat in this area is classified as unique and rare because in general peat is found in the lowlands adjacent to the coast, but peat in the Humbang Hasundutan area is a highland (topogenous) peat which lies at an altitude of 1000-1450 meters above sea level. The purpose of this study was to determine the amount of CO2 gas emissions on peatlands cultivated with coffee, chili, and paddy in Dolok Sanggul District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency. The study was conducted in Huta Bagasan Village, Dolok Sanggul District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency. Laboratory analysis was carried out at the Greenhouse Gas Laboratory (GHG) Laboratory of the Agricultural Research Institute (BALINGTAN) Jakenan, Pati, Central Java. This research method is a survey research on the amount of CO2 gas emissions on highland peatlands that are cultivated with coffee, chili, and rice plants. CO2 gas sampling using a closed hood method. The sampling time is done 3 times, namely at 07.00 WIB, 12.00 WIB and 17.00 WIB. CO2 emissions on highland peatlands range from 11-44 tons
/ ha / year, still lower than CO2 emissions on lowland peatlands ranging from 50- 55 tons / ha / year. Soil moisture and land processing are thought to be the dominant factors in the rate of CO2 emissions in the research conducted. | en_US |
