dc.description.abstractTourism is closely related to tourist facilities as one of the places supporting the tourism industry is the market. The development of tourist areas which can be in the form of markets plays an important role in the economic growth of an area and can also be used as a means of recreation. The level of human desire to travel is getting higher at this time, one of the scopes of tourism is the development of tourist destinations which can be in the form of construction of tourist facilities, one of which is the market. Market development in the Berastagi area is a place to improve the quality of a market which can support the convenience activities of traders and buyers in buying and selling transactions. Berastagi is one of the districts in karo regency, North Sumatra province, Indonesia with all the potential of arts and culture. This research aims to raise the value of local cultural values of the Berastagi area by applying a traditional architectural concept with modern architecture to a market building with a neo vernacular approach. In the process of collecting data, researchers conducted research on the Berastagi tourist area data and also conducted comparative studies, and the authors also collected data by observation. This research is expected to provide benefits to the community and also the local government, to pay attention and consider the development of tourist facilities in the area in order to increase the attractiveness of the tourist area.en_US
