dc.description.abstract | The availability of facilities greatly influences the student’s activities at school. In accordance with existing regulations that every child
has the right to education commensurate with his age, just as children with special needs have the right to go to school and have adequate
facilities. The aim of this research is to provide a building function that accommodates teaching and learning activities and skills training for
children with special needs using a tropical architectural approach. This research concentrates on the needs, comfort and safety of space in
the school environment for children with special needs.
In the design process, a tropical architectural approach was applied as a solution to combine the climatic conditions around the site with
its application to the site and building. This is intended so that this special school can become a comfortable and safe place for teaching and
learning activities so that it can help the development of children with special needs who are deaf and mentally retarded both emotionally,
socially and academically. A tropical architectural approach to buildings can also be an effort to save our earth from global warming. | en_US |
