    Abstract
In its implementation, knowledge sharing plays a crucial role in enhancing the competence of librarians and the quality of library services. This study focuses on two main dimensions, i.e., knowledge donating and knowledge collecting, which are implemented through both formal and informal activities, including the use of digital technology. The purpose of this research is to analyze the implementation of knowledge sharing by librarians within the North Sumatra Indonesian Librarian Association. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through interviews with six librarian informants affiliated with North Sumatra IPI (Ikatan Pustakawan Indonesia) during the year 2024. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive method of saturated snowfall sampling with a focus on knowledge exchange methods, the technologies used, and the challenges faced. The findings show that knowledge donating is conducted through discussions, training, and the use of social media such as WhatsApp groups for information sharing and video conferencing for knowledge sharing and facilitating remote interactions. Knowledge collecting involves gathering information through seminars, training, and other collaborative activities. The main challenge encountered is the lack of active participation from members, caused by their busyness and time constraints. This study concludes that the optimization of technology use and the enhancement of member awareness and participation are crucial steps to improve the effectiveness of knowledge-sharing practices in IPI North Sumatra.
