    Abstract
Industrial effluents contain a wide range of water-soluble organic dyes such as rhodamine B (RhB) dye. Therefore, a method to remove RhB is needed, namely by adsorption. Adsorption can be done using BC and BC/GO composites. The addition of GO aims to increase the adsorption capacity of BC through stronger electrostatic interactions and the addition of active functional groups from GO. The stages carried out are GO synthesis, BC/GO composite synthesis and RhB adsorption using BC/GO composites with GO mass variations of 0, 25, 50, and 75 mg and variations in the pH of the RhB solution, namely pH 3, 7, and 11. Characterization was carried out on the adsorbent and RhB after adsorption. The results of physicochemical tests such as FTIR, XRD, SEM, and Raman spectroscopy showed that GO from Sawahlunto coal was successfully synthesized, while the physicochemical results of BC/GO showed that GO was successfully incorporated into the BC matrix. The results of the analysis of the adsorption ability of BC before the addition of GO were lower with an adsorption efficiency of 42,04% and an adsorption capacity of 0,0934 mg/g, while the adsorption results using 50 mg BC/GO composite showed the highest decrease in concentration with an adsorption efficiency of 98,91% and an adsorption capacity of 0.2198 mg/g and the adsorption results with RhB pH 3 had an adsorption efficiency of 99,50% and an adsorption capacity of 0,2211 mg/g. This shows that the BC/GO composite adsorbent shows better results than without the addition of GO.
