    Abstract
Background: Burns are tissue damage due to exposure to heat sources on the body surface such as fire, electricity, exposure to high temperatures from the sun, and harmful chemicals that are corrosive such as strong acids and strong bases. Iler leaves (Coleus scutellarioides (L.) Benth) contain tannins, saponins, and flavonoids as antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antibacterial in healing burns. Objective: To evaluate the healing effect on burns wound variation of gel ethanol extract of iler leaf 5%, 7.5%, and 10%. Methods: Burns are inflicted using hot metal. Animals are treated with 5%, 7.5%, and 10% ethanol extract gel of iler leaves using a gel base as a negative control and Bioplacenton® gel as a positive control. The wound area is measured using tracing paper, which is then analyzed using ImageJ software to determine the burn area. Observations are made for 14 days. Results: Gel ethanol extract of iler leaves is semi-solid with physical properties examination, namely gel preparation of ethanol extract of iler leaves is homogeneous, pH of 5%, 7.5%, and 10% extract gel preparations are 4.89 ± 0.01; 4.86 ± 0.01; 4.73 ± 0.02. The viscosity results of 5%, 7.5%, and 10% gel preparations are 25046.8 ± 5.30 cP; 24272.8 ± 1.96 cP; 23668 ± 3.12 cP. The results of the spreadability of 5%, 7.5%, and 10% extract gel preparations are 6.16 ± 0.11 cm; 6.3 ± 0.1 cm; 6.63 ± 0.11 cm. The ethanol extract gel of iler leaves has a burn healing effect on male rabbits, this can be see from the average AUC value of the percentage of burn wound shrinkage in the administration of 5%, 7.5%, and 10% ethanol extract gels of 347.34 ± 0.66%; 350.63 ± 9.75%; 439.00 ± 16.58%. Conclusion: The gel of ethanol extract of iler leaves has a healing effect on burn wounds. The most effective gel preparation is 10% iler leaf ethanol extract gel with an average AUC value of the percentage of burn wound shrinkage of 439.00 ± 16.58%.
