dc.description.abstractThis research ebtitled “Stages for GivingUlos in the Toba Batak EthnicMarunjuk Custom” aims to describe the stages of giving ulos in the Toba Batak ethnic marunjuk custom, the types of ulos used in the Toba Batak ethnic marunjuk custom, and the value of local wisdom contained in marunjuk traditional ceremony of the Toba Batak ethnic. The theory used to analyze is the local wisdom theory put forward by Sibarani, the method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method and field research techniques. The results obtained from this research are: 1) There are several stages of giving ulos in the marunjuk traditional ceremony, namely during the mangulosi, The first ulos given was ulos passamot; second, ulos ragi hotang (hela) and mandar hela; third, ulos pamarai (sadum); fourth, ulos simanggokhon; fifth, ulos simoholon; sixth, ulos sihuti ampang; seventh, ulos holong; and the last one is ulos from sijalo tintin marangkup/tulang (ulos sirara). 2) The type of ulos used in the marunjuk traditional ceremony there are 7 types that are agreed upon by both families, namely : ulos passamot, ulos hela wich is also given as a mandar hela, ulos pamarai, ulos simanggonghon, ulos simoholon, ulos sihutti ampang, ulos bone is given during the closing ceremony where the bones will be giving ulos to the bride and groom and giving umpasa as advice and also as a form of affection, but apart from the ulos which has been agreed upon by both families, the bride and groom will also receive ulos holong frem the invited guests: and, 3) The value of local wisdom in the procedure for giving ulos includes the value of politeness, the value of harmony and conflict resolution, the value of commitment, the value of gratitude, the value of caring and affection, the value of respect, the value of mutual cooperation, the value of cultural preservation and creativity and love of culture.en_US
