dc.description.abstractPT. PLN Indonesia Power UBP Pangkalan Susu has an air pollution control device (APPU) in the form of an Electric Precipitator (ESP). However, theoretically (Schenele, 2016) ESP is only effective in removing particulates by ionizing particles and not gas. Based on chimney emission air data, the emission results in May 2024 in Unit II exceeded the quality standards based on PermenLH No. 15 of 2017 for the SO2 parameter 3,404.57 mg/m3 and the NO2 parameter 831.26 mg/m3. Therefore, an APPU is needed that can remove gas pollutants. By using the Pugh matrix method and considering several aspects such as the level of efficiency of SO2 and NO2 gas removal, economic aspects, land availability and the potential for waste by-products produced. With the Pugh matrix method, the selected APPU is Wet Scrubber with a net score of 5. The design process begins by analyzing the% v/v of unit II emission air which is then continued with production capacity analysis. The preliminary sizing calculation of the wet scrubber begins with the calculation of the absorption factor then the selection of the absorbent in the form of Ca(OH)2 solution and its needs and the minimum flow rate and actual flow rate. Calculation of the number of trays and dimensions of the wet scrubber, determination of the type of packing used, surface area and total pressure drop. The results of the final pollutant concentration of the wet scrubber that has been designed using aspen plus are SO2 pollutants 521.646 mg/m3 (% efficiency 84.678%) and NO2 pollutants 16.003 mg/m3 (% efficiency 98.074%). From the results of the study, the height of the wet scrubber was 13.79 m with a diameter of 5 m. The number of wet scrubber trays is 2 with the packing used is tri-packs with a diameter of 2 inches. The total pressure drop on both column packings is 7.63 inH2O/ft. And the final result of this study is a design drawing of an air pollution control system in the form of gas.en_US
