Medan Recreative Entertainment Cinema With Modern Architectural Approach

Abstract

The city of Medan, which is developing rapidly, is the capital of North Sumatra as well as the center of government, trade and economy. This city is the largest city on the island of Sumatra. This city has a long and interesting history. The residents of this city also uniquely come from various regions in Indonesia. Because various ethnic groups gather here. However, behind that, Medan City is a very busy city, so facilities are needed to relieve the boredom of Medan city residents. The role of the cinema arena and providing alternative quality entertainment for the community. To support this design, primary data and secondary data were used obtained through field surveys, direct observation of the objects studied, existing documentation, literature studies, and comparative studies with similar research objects. In this design, a tropical architectural approach is applied as a solution to overcome climate problems in the city of Medan. The building is designed with voids, an open roof and large windows to allow air flow and sunlight to enter the building. Natural materials such as wood, brick and bamboo as well as water elements are used to create coolness and comfort for teenagers. The facilities provided include work space, various activity rooms, playrooms and study rooms, which aim to support youth activities. Apart from that, there are also positive courses, training and competition programs available to improve abilities and develop teenagers.It is hoped that with the available facilities and programs, this design can form a high-quality and responsible young generation.
