Pasar Induk Lau Cih is the only largest vegetable trading center located in Medan Tuntungan District, Medan City which officially operated in 2015. This main market is still not functioning properly as defined in a safe and comfortable market. This redevelopment also aims to improve the safety and comfort aspects of visitors, the relationship of the building to the climate through the addition of functions based on the needs of residential functions around the market location. Redevelopment is needed by implementing an energy-efficient architectural approach with three parameters, design with the climate of the locality, and low energy design. This study was conducted using descriptive qualitative research methods through field observations and literature studies. Primary data is obtained through survey activities, documentation and interviews. The architectural design analysis includes three parameters there are passive environmental control by designing windows, walls, and building’s floors, the second is mechanical installation control in building and the last goes with hybrid environmental controls. This study aims to examine the effect of climate-responsive energy context in the architectural design of building and to design an optimal air conditioning system in the Building of Pasar Induk Lau Cih in Medan City.en_US
