Adolescence is a transitional period that is passed by every individual aged 10
to 19 years before turning to the adult level. Teenagers have potential in non-academic fields
that are no less important than the academic potential obtained at school. Generally, youth's
nonacademic potential develops optimally when they are in the right environment with
people who have a linear vision and mission. Creativity is one important aspect that is
necessary in one's life that has been taught since childhood and will continue to be honed
into adulthood. Creativity is not only a means for fun, but will continue to be used even in
the world of work. Exploring youth creativity is an individual choice but is heavily influenced
by the family, school, and community environment.
To build and develop the creative potential of youth, a forum is needed that acts
as a reservoir and support for positive activities and self-potential according to creative
fields such as recreational interests: literacy, music, dance and social interests: critical
thinking and public speaking. In fact, Medan City as a big city with a high youth population
has not provided space for this. The community center is expected to contribute to forming
and strengthening the local youth community in Medan City. The contemporary design
approach is an architectural style that reflects freedom of expression, the desire to show
something different, and can be combined with other architectural styles. The use of this
concept is expected to create a building as a new image that will attract the attention of
young people to come and be active in it.
