    Abstract
Research has been conducted on the synthesis and characterization of Phase Change Material based on PEG 6000 and TiO2 composite by sonication method. PEG 6000 is an organic PCM that has a high latent heat capacity to store and release energy during phase change, while TiO2 has a high thermal conductivity to increase heat transfer efficiency in PCM. In this study, three variations of TiO2 mass addition (4 %, 8 %, and 12 %) were used. PCM that has been synthesized then characterized to determine the thermal properties (Thermal Conductivity, DSC and TGA) and physical properties (XRD, SEM-EDX and Density Testing). Thermal conductivity test results showed an increase in each addition of TiO2 with the highest thermal conductivity value of 0.39 W/mK. DSC results show that the addition of 12 % TiO2 has a large latent heat enthalpy value of 196.39 J/g. TGA results show that the addition of TiO2 to PEG 6000 can increase the thermal stability of PCM. XRD results show no new peaks formed, this proves that there is no chemical reaction between PEG 6000 and TiO2. SEM-EDX results show a surface morphology that is not smooth, but TiO2 particles are almost evenly distributed on the EDX mapping results. Density test results show that the addition of TiO2 increases the density value of PCM. Therefore, the optimum composition of the variation of TiO2 addition to PEG 6000-based PCM is with the addition of 12 % TiO2.
