    Abstract
Hypertension is a global health issue that significantly impacts morbidity and mortality rates. One of the management efforts includes providing health education about hypertension. This study aims to evaluate the effect of health education on improving community knowledge in the working area of Bandar Khalipah Public Health Center, Deli Serdang. A quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach was used, involving 89 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Hypertension Knowledge Level Scale (HKLS) questionnaire, which consists of 22 questions. Health education was delivered through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations using leaflet media. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test. The results showed a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05), indicating that health education is effective in improving community understanding of hypertension. A significant increase in knowledge levels was observed, with high knowledge levels increasing from 10 respondents (11.2%) to 55 respondents (61.8%) after the intervention, while low knowledge levels decreased from 53 respondents (59.6%) to 14 respondents (15.7%). The findings of this study suggest that health education positively influences the enhancement of community knowledge in the working area of Bandar Khalipah Public Health Center. The study recommends emphasizing the provision of appropriate health education to further improve community knowledge levels.
