    Abstract
    Forest Area with Special Purpose (KHDTK) Education and Training Forest Pondok Buluh is one of the forest area located in Dolok Panribuan District, Simalungun Regency, Sumatera Utara Province, which has the high diversity of bamboo species that grown in this area, such as, the lemang bamboo That known, has the long fiber and suitable for the pulp and paper material. This study animed to measure the dimansion and the fiber derivatives value of lemang bamboo for the eligibility as pulp and paper material. A total of 3 stems of lemang bamboo werw cat and samples were taken in the from of a disc at height of 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15 meters. Then the sample were cut into sticks and then the saparated fiber was made by using the macerition process. Afterwords, the dimensoins of the sample were measured using a light microscope, such as fiber length, fiber diameter, and fiber wall thickens, and then the measurement for the fiber derivatives value of the bamboo fiber. The result of this research, obtained the avarege dimension of bamboo fiber is 1501,941 μm for fiber length, 15,83 μm for fiber diameter, 5,755 μm for fiber lumen diameter, and 5,132μm for fiber wall thickness. Than fiber lenght graph show the upward of fiber lenght along the bamboo clum from bottom to top of the bamboo culm, and the wavy trend for the fiber diameter on some height of the bamboo. The measurement of the fiber derivatives value, obtained the average of runkle ratio 1,828, felting power 94,903, mulhsteph ratio 86,586%, ridigity cofficient 0,324, and flexsibility ratio 0,363. Then the quality class II, which means the lemang bamboo grown in the Pondok Buluh area is suitable for use as raw material for plup and paper because it has long fibers, aesy to flatten when milled and has good fiber bonds.
