Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is a plantation crop that will produce oil palm trunk waste from replanting activities. Oil palm trunks have not been widely utilized by the community and become waste for the environment if left alone. Oil palm trunks contain quite a lot of vascular bundle fibers that can be processed further, one of which is as raw material for making yarn. Vascular bundle fibers can be obtained through mechanical processing. This study aims to analyze the quality of commercial yarn from vascular bundle fibers of palm trunk waste in the treatment with the addition of adhesive and without the addition of adhesive. The separation of the vascular bundle of oil palm trunks follows the granted patent number IDS000006288 then hit using a hammer so that it is separated between the vascular bundle fibers, and parenchyma. Based on the research that has been done, the results of fiber dimension measurements are obtained with an average fiber length value of 980.49 μm and an average fiber diameter value of 26.81 μm. The results of the physical properties test obtained an average value of water content of 8.32% and specific gravity of 0.87. The results of the yarn fineness test by means of Tex on yarn without adhesive and with adhesive amounted to 40.14 Tex and 74.56 Tex. The results of mechanical properties testing obtained the average value of tensile strength of yarn without adhesive and yarn with adhesive amounted to 36.98 MPa and 24.26 MPa and the average value of elongation of yarn without adhesive and yarn with adhesive amounted to 4.6% and 5%.en_US
