dc.description.abstractSexually transmitted infections (STIs) are infections that are transmitted primarily through sexual intercourse. The achievement of screening for the risk of HIV infection in Indonesia in 2023 was only 76% and in North Sumatra only 66% of the target based on Permenkes No. 13 of 2022 concerning the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Health for 2020-2024, which is 85%. Based on research by the Medan City HIV/AIDS awareness group (SAHIVA) on the reproductive health behavior of boarding house children in 2019, 52.0% of boarding house children mostly engaged in sexual activity with their own boyfriends, 14.4% with friends of the opposite sex, 10.4% with the same sex, and some even had sex with commercial sex workers, which was 4.0%. The high number of cases of sexually transmitted diseases is due to the lack of knowledge and attitudes of women about how to prevent sexually transmitted diseases. The purpose of this study was relationship of knowledge and attitude about sexually transmitted infections with sexual behavior of boarding house residents adolescent in Medan Baru Sub District in 2024. This study is an analytical study with a quantitative method using a cross-sectional approach. The number of samples used in this study was 97 samples with accidental sampling technique. The results obtained from this study are that there is a relationship between knowledge of sexually transmitted infections and the behavior of adolescent boarding house residents in Medan Baru District in 2024 with a significance level of 0.016 and there is relationship of knowledge and attitude about sexually transmitted infections with sexual behavior of boarding house residents adolescent in Medan Baru Sub District in 2024 with a significance level of 0.005.en_US
