    Abstract
This thesis examines the efforts made by the Indonesian Plantation Museum to increase its number of visitors. This research focuses on qualitative research with an ethnographic approach based on Charles Mc. Gimsey III's cultural resource management theory and public archaeology theory to provide a strong framework for the interpretation of the collected data. Meanwhile, the data collection techniques in this study use methods of observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and literature studies so that this study finds tactical steps taken by the Indonesian Plantation Museum. From the results of this research, various efforts have been found, starting from inward-focused efforts including the use of digital technology such as an immersive room using 360-degree technology, to outward-focused efforts by creating various programs that continuously change to match the evolving interests of visitors. The museum also directly engages with the audience through collaborations with relevant parties and various communities, and MUSPERIN goes directly to the field to reach its visitors. With these various tactical steps, the museum can continue to develop and receive positive responses from its visitors, although some argue that the museum does not have enough space. This is due to the fact that the building of the Plantation Museum was originally the residence of Van Ris, an AVROS (Algemeene Vereeniging van Rubberplanters ter Oostkust van Sumatra) official, an organization of rubber plantation entrepreneurs in the East Coast of Sumatra, which was not initially designed as a museum. The building of the Plantation Museum was then taken over by Mr. Soedjai Kartasasmita to save a cultural heritage building, therefore, the MUSPERIN building, which has become a cultural heritage site, cannot have its architecture changed arbitrarily.
