Rising temperatures in Indonesia's major cities, including Medan, have been followed by land changes that occur year after year, causing discomfort in numerous regions. Preserving Public GOS is a solution for overcoming discomfort in numerous domains. Public GOS contributes to the comfort of the surrounding environment, particularly GOS with trees, which can reduce hot temperatures and increase humidity under their shade while also providing a comfortable effect. The goal of this study was to examine the effect of tree canopies in providing comfort effects based on temperature and humidity index in several public GOS in Medan. The method used in this study combines satellite imagery analysis with direct field measurements, followed by a correlation analysis on the parameters of the proportion of vegetation in satellite images and THI from direct field measurements to assess the linear relationship between vegetation and THI in reducing temperature and humidity around it. Tree canopies at Medan's Public GOS can reduce temperatures by up to 4°C while increasing humidity by up to 20%. The higher the canopy cover value or proportion of the vegetation at the tree canopy area, the lower the THI value in that location.en_US
