Pengaruh Pupuk NPK pada Pertumbuhan Shorea parvifolia di Bawah Tegakan Pohon di Arboretum Universitas Sumatera Utara

Abstract

Meranti Sarang Punai (Shorea parvifolia) is a species of least concern but its population is declining every year due to high market demand and declining timber availability. This study aims to obtain the appropriate dose of NPK fertilizer and shade to increase the growth percentage of S. parvifolia. The doses of NPK fertilizer used were 0 g (control), 50 g, 100 g, 150 g, and 200 g, while the shade used was the shade of Mahogany (Swietenia mahagoni), Pulai (Alstonia scholaris) and White Teak (Gmelina arborea). This study used non-factorial Randomized Group Design (RAK) with DMRT further test. In this study, the results showed that the percentage of living S.parvifolia was 100%. The provision of NPK fertilizer and shade did not give a real effect on the growth of height, diameter and number of leaves. The best height growth was found in the N3 treatment and White Teak shade with growth of 24.27 cm and 25.91 cm respectively. The best diameter growth was found in the N4 treatment and Mahogany shade with growth of 0.203 cm and 0.198 cm respectively. The highest number of leaves was found in the N1 treatment and Pulai shade with 43 and 42 leaves respectively. However, growth is still not optimal because growth is still below the growth of Shorea parvifolia in natural forests with height and diameter growth of 0.58 m/year and 0.59 cm/year, respectively.
