Abstract

Medan, the capital of North Sumatra, is a densely populated city. Despite covering only a small portion (3.6%) of the province's land, it houses 2.54 million people, resulting in a population density of 9,413 people per square kilometer. This makes it the third most densely populated city in Indonesia according to the 2023 census. The city's rapid development and increasing population are driving residential growth, leading to shrinking vacant land and rising land prices. From its role, the population in Medan City has a high level of activity and mobility, making the character of city dwellers tend to want comfortable, safe, and quality housing. Today, the residents of Medan City are a modern society that demands mobility with a comfortable lifestyle, provides security and convenience in carrying out activities, requires a center of activity that can connect the needs of work, residence, and entertainment. Therefore, designing an apartment as a residence in Medan City is the right choice.
