    Abstract
The palm oil industry produces waste that has the potential to pollute the environment, but also contains useful organic materials. One of its uses is as fertilizer through composting empty oil palm bunches. The natural composting process takes 6–9 months, so microorganisms such as bacteria are needed to accelerate decomposition. This study is to see the ability of symbiont bacteria from various culture media as decomposers of empty oil palm bunches. The media used consists of NA media, soybeans, tuna, and corn which are rich in protein and carbohydrates, to support optimal bacterial growth. This research was conducted at the Plant Disease Laboratory and Greenhouse of the Agrotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra from September to December 2024. This study used a Factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 2 Factors and 3 Replications. The results showed that corn media was the best with a C/N ratio of 16,13 %. The highest percentage of nitrogen (N) content was found in M2 bacteria with corn media of 1.72%, while the lowest was in the control of 1.3%. Phosphorus (P) levels in all treatments ranged from 0.11%–0.19%. The highest potassium (K) levels were found in M2 bacteria with soybean media of 1.91%.
