Assessment of the Level of Implementation of the Construction Safety Management System in Construction Projects in Medan City
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the level of implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SMKK) in construction projects in Medan City. With the increasing number of workplace accidents in Indonesia, particularly in the construction sector, this research focuses on the impact of safety policies on the injury rates of workers. The research employs a quantitative method with a descriptive approach, involving data collection through questionnaires and interviews with informants from several construction companies in Medan. The results indicate that the implementation of SMK3Kin construction projects in Medan City is quite satisfactory, with three out of four companies studied achieving an average score above 90%. However, one company recorded an average score of 79%, which is still considered good. The study also finds that the safety policies implemented by the companies significantly influence worker safety, where companies with strong and consistent policies tend to experience fewer workplace accidents. The conclusion of this research emphasizes the importance of effective SMKK and SMK3 implementation in reducing the risk of workplace accidents in construction projects. It is hoped that the findings of this study can serve as a reference for construction companies to enhance workplace safety and health for their workers in the future.
