Analisis Nilai Ekonomi, Kontribusi Pendapatan, kesejahteraan Petani dan Strategi Pengembangan Usaha Industri Aren (Arenga pinnata) Di Kecamatan Galang, Kabupaten Deli Serdang

Abstract

The objectives of the study were to evaluate the economic value of aren palm business, measure the contribution of income for farmers, assess the welfare level of farmers, and formulate development strategies through SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats). Data were obtained through purposive sampling using observation, interview, questionnaire, and documentation methods. The market price approach was used to calculate economic value, while income contribution was analyzed from main production income as well as other sources of income. Farmer welfare was assessed using the Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) index. Results showed that tuak products had the highest economic value at IDR 53,533,333 per year, followed by palm sugar at IDR 41,028,980 per year, with a contribution of 52.66% to the income of the palm industry (medium category). The NTP analysis indicated that four farmers experienced a deficit due to the increase in production and household prices that exceeded income. SWOT analysis showed that farmers have sufficient strengths and opportunities to overcome weaknesses and threats. The study recommends further studies on palm sugar product diversification strategies as well as mapping the distribution of palm NTFPs by considering ecological and social aspects more broadly.
