The increasing waste generation that exceeds the capacity of Final Disposal Sites (TPA) has encouraged the utilization of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) as an alternative fuel. However, the combustion of RDF produces flue gas containing hazardous pollutants. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of a spray tower scrubber in treating flue gas from the combustion of RDF mixed with sawdust. The experiments were conducted with three variations of fuel mass (3 kg, 5 kg, 7 kg) and three scrubber system conditions: without a wet scrubber, with 2 sprinklers, and with 4 sprinklers. The measured parameters include opacity levels and flue gas temperature. The results indicate that the use of a wet scrubber significantly reduces both opacity levels and flue gas temperature. Without the wet scrubber, the opacity level reached 40%, whereas with 2 sprinklers, it decreased to 18%, and with 4 sprinklers, it further dropped to 12.8%. The flue gas temperature also decreased from 66°C without a scrubber to 40°C with 2 sprinklers and 38°C with 4 sprinklers. Therefore, the use of a wet scrubber with a higher number of sprinklers proves to be more effective in reducing opacity levels and flue gas temperature, making it a potential solution for controlling opacity from the combustion of RDF mixed with sawdust.en_US
