    Abstract
Mangroves are vegetation that grows in muddy soil in the tidal zone. Mursala Island is one of the coastal areas in North Sumatra that has a mangrove area. However, there has been exploitation of the mangrove forests on Pulau Mursala. Excessive exploitation has led to the loss of various vegetation types and changes in the structure of the mangrove forest community. Morphological characters are common characteristics used to classify plants. The purpose of the study was to determine the composition and structure of mangrove vegetation on Mursala Island, to determine the morphological characteristics of Rhizophora spp. species in the mangrove forest of Mursala Island. The research was conducted using the method of striped paths. Sampling of leaves from 2 zones that have different salinity and from all zones. The results showed that the dominant species at the tree level was Rhizophora stylosa with an INP value of 118.4%, at the sapling level dominated by Rhizophora mucronata with an INP value of 138.87%, at the seedling level dominated by Rhizophora stylosa with an INP value of 117.09%. The results of morphological characteristics on the leaves of Rhizophora sp with BIPLOT analysis, PCA and Cluster Analysis, Rhizophora apiculata and Rhizophora stylosa species have a characteristic aspect ratio (AR), parameter ratio of diameter (PR), the shape of the tip of the leaf (AS) which is almost dominantly the same.
