    Abstract
Each stage of the furniture production process poses its own inherent hazards that can lead to occupational accidents. Based on a preliminary survey in the informal furniture industry on Jl. Pahlawan, Medan Perjuangan Subdistrict, it was found that many workers had experienced workplace accidents, and there was a lack of knowledge among workers regarding unsafe actions and unsafe conditions. This study aims to analyze the relationship of unsafe actions and unsafe conditions with occupational accidents among furniture workers. The research was conducted using a retrospective cohort design, with a sample of 32 workers from 8 home-based industries selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis was performed using Fisher’s exact test. The results of the analysis showed a significant relationship of unsafe actions and occupational accidents (p = 0.003, RR = 2.152, 95% CI = 1.031–4.491) and of unsafe conditions and occupational accidents (p = 0.018, RR = 1.629, 95% CI = 0.999–2.655). In conclusion, unsafe actions and unsafe conditions remain the primary factors contributing to the high incidence of occupational accidents in the furniture industry. It is recommended that the implementation of occupational safety and health (OSH) standards be improved through OSH risk management, the development of industry-specific OSH standards, education, supervision, provision of personal protective equipment (PPE), and the arrangement of a work environment in accordance with OSH standards.
