This study examines the phenomenon of Toyoko Kids, referring to groups of youths who gather near the Toho Cinema building in Tokyo, Japan. These Toyoko Kids are teenagers who have run away from home due to domestic violence, economic hardship, social media influence, and a lack of protection. The aim of this research is to understand the Toyoko Kids phenomenon in Kabukicho, Tokyo, and to identify the factors that lead Japanese teenagers to become Toyoko Kids. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method and literature review. Data were collected from documentation studies such as books, websites, articles, videos, and images as supporting sources. The analysis applies phenomenological theory, impact theory, and factor theory. The findings show that Toyoko Kids in Kabukicho are predominantly female teenagers who tend to support a lifestyle disconnected from structured environments, often involving alcohol and drug use. Many come from problematic families and join Toyoko Kids as a means of seeking understanding and escaping emotional distress. However, they often suffer psychological impacts such as stress, anxiety, and depression due to limited access to mental health services, while government and organizational interventions are frequently ineffective.en_US
