dc.description.abstractHuman resources or employees are the important asset for the company. Employees who have good performance will certainly have a positive impact on the company. In order to improve employee performance, companies must pay attention to employee workload and work stress. This research focuses on the relationship between workload variables (X) and employee performance (Y) which is mediated by work stress. This study was used a descriptive quantitative method with the census method as a data collection technique in which 57 employees of Bank Sumut Stabat Branch Office were respondents and the Structural Equation Model (SEM) method as a data analysis technique. Based on the results, it was found that the workload variable had a negative and insignificant effect on employee performance. The workload has a positive and significant effect on work stress. The work stress has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. The workload has a positive and significant effect on employee performance through the work stress variable.en_US
