This research is motivated by previous research which has not shown specific waste generation in each study program at USU's Faculty of Engineering. The purpose of this research is to determine the generation, composition, and characteristics of waste for each USU Engineering study program and the appropriate campaign media in USU Engineering. Measurement of waste generation, composition and characteristics is based on SNI 19-3694-1994 and data on determining appropriate campaign media in USU Engineering was obtained by distributing questionnaires to USU Lecturers, Students and Engineering Employees. The amount of waste generated in each engineering study program is 0.011 kg/o/h and 0.23 L/o/h in Civil Engineering, 0.009 kg/o/h and 0.17 L/o/h in Mechanical Engineering, 0.008 kg /o/h and 0.20 L/o/h in Chemical Engineering, 0.008 kg/o/h and 0.42 L/o/h in Industrial Engineering, 0.004 kg/o/h and 0.09 L/o/h in Electrical Engineering, 0.030 kg/o/h and 0.89 L/o/h in Architecture, 0.024 kg/o/h and 0.80 L/o /h in Environmental Engineering. Most of the waste composition comes from plastic (32.52%), paper (25.63%), and food waste (25.61%). The highest water content of organic waste is in the Industrial Engineering study program (78.46%) while inorganic waste is in the Electrical Engineering study program (4.50%). The highest levels of volatile organic and inorganic waste were in the Architecture study program (72.83%) and (98.95%). The highest ash content of organic waste is in the Chemical Engineering study program (8.15%) while inorganic waste is in the Electrical Engineering study program (0.50%). Suitable campaign media to use in the Waste Aware Environment Campaign at the USU Faculty of Engineering for lecturers, students and staff are posters and banners.
