dc.description.abstractHeat cured acrylic resin is commonly used for denture base fabrication. However, denture base easily fractures due to poor physical and mechanical properties of acrylic resin. Bagasse fiber as a reinforcing material increases strength and mechanical properties of acrylic resin, but it also causes color change. This research aims to determine color difference in heat cured acrylic resin after 1wt% and 2wt% bagasse fiber addition. This research utilizes three sample groups; each group comprising ten samples of heat cured acrylic resin plate with size of 65 mm x 10 mm x 2 mm. Bagasse was dried and combed with a wire brush to obtain bagasse fiber. This fiber was alkali treated and ball-milled at 800 rpm for two hours to obtain bagasse powder. Heat cured acrylic resin with 1wt% and 2wt% bagasse fiber addition were made by mixing 0.09 grams fiber powder and 8.91 grams polymer powder, 0.18 grams fiber powder and 8.82 grams polymer powder, with 4.5 mL liquid monomer. These acrylic resins underwent curing process using waterbath and then polished. All sample groups were measured for color values using a colorimeter. The mean values of acrylic resin color with 1wt% and 2wt% bagasse fiber addition were 53.94±2.07 and 58.01±1.49, compared to without fiber addition 50,47±0,96. One-Way ANOVA and post-hoc LSD test showed that there are significant differences in color values (p<0.05) between each sample group. It can be concluded that there is a significant color difference between heat cured acrylic resin after 1wt% and 2wt% bagasse fiber addition.en_US
